Driving in Las Vegas: Everything You Need to Know About Parking and Traffic

Las Vegas driving is its own experience — the Strip is gridlocked by 9pm on weekends, parking has gotten expensive, and the locals use routes that tourists never find.

Las Vegas driving is straightforward on normal days and genuinely difficult during peak periods. The Strip gridlocks Friday–Sunday evenings, event days create citywide traffic, and parking policies have changed significantly since 2016.

Parking

  • MGM Resorts properties now charge $10–18/day for self-parking (Bellagio, MGM Grand, Aria, Vdara, etc.)
  • Caesars properties still offer some free parking for players club members
  • The Fashion Show Mall parking is free and walkable to many mid-Strip properties
  • Downtown Las Vegas has more free parking than the Strip
  • Wynn and Encore offer free parking with validation from restaurants or hotel stay

Traffic Reality

  • Las Vegas Blvd (the Strip) moves at 10–15 mph on weekend evenings
  • Use Frank Sinatra Drive (west) or Koval Lane (east) as parallel Strip routes for faster movement
  • Paradise Road is the fastest east-Strip arterial
  • Convention events (CES, SEMA, CONEXPO) cause citywide gridlock — check convention calendar before driving

Confirm current hours, prices, access, age rules, and availability with the official venue before you go.
