The Grand Canyon is one of the world's great geological wonders and should be on every Las Vegas visitor's itinerary. The question isn't whether to go — it's which version of the trip to take.

West Rim (2 hours from Las Vegas)

The Grand Canyon West Rim (Hualapai Reservation) is 120 miles from Las Vegas. It has the famous Skywalk glass bridge (additional fee), rim viewpoints, and a shuttle system. The views are spectacular but the canyon is narrower here than at the South Rim. Best for: first-time visitors who can't commit to a full day.

South Rim (4.5–5 hours from Las Vegas)

The South Rim is the 'real' Grand Canyon — national park infrastructure, the full depth and width of the canyon, multiple viewpoints, and excellent hiking. It's a long drive but the experience is fundamentally different and superior to West Rim. Best for: people who want the real national park experience.

Helicopter Tour (30 minutes flight)

Papillon and Maverick Helicopters fly from the Strip (near the Las Vegas Motor Speedway helipad). The 30-minute Grand Canyon tour costs $200–400 per person and includes 25 minutes over the canyon floor. The most efficient way to see the canyon if your time is limited.
