How to Get a Free Hotel Upgrade at Any Las Vegas Casino

Las Vegas hotels upgrade rooms more often than guests realize — the trick is knowing exactly how to ask, when to ask, and what to say.

Read the full guide

Las Vegas hotels have thousands of rooms and constant inventory fluctuation. On any given night, dozens of suites and upgraded rooms go unoccupied. The question isn't whether upgrades are available — it's whether you know how to get one.

The Check-In Conversation

Always check in in person, not on the app. Walk to the front desk, make eye contact, and say something like: 'I'm celebrating my birthday/anniversary/honeymoon this trip — are there any complimentary upgrades available tonight?' Be warm, be specific, and be brief. Avoid demanding language. You're asking for a favor, not insisting on a right.

When to Ask

  • Check in on a Sunday, Monday, or Tuesday — the slow nights when upgrades are most available.
  • Check in after 4pm — most upgrades happen in the late afternoon once cancellations clear.
  • Ask at a quieter front desk (not during the Friday afternoon rush).
  • Mention any special occasion genuinely — they will sometimes verify, so don't fabricate.

The Players Club Card

Every major Las Vegas casino has a rewards program. Sign up before you arrive and put your food, hotel, and even minimal gambling spend on the card. Higher-tier cardholders get priority upgrade consideration — even a first visit that shows spending intent helps.

Confirm current hours, prices, access, age rules, and availability with the official venue before you go.
