Casino floors have developed their own culture over decades — unwritten rules that regular players follow automatically and that first-timers often violate. Here's the complete guide to casino table etiquette.

At the Blackjack Table

  • Don't touch your chips once bets are placed
  • Use hand signals to indicate hit (tap the table) or stand (wave hand over cards) — verbal communication is for the cameras
  • Don't give unsolicited strategy advice to other players
  • Don't hold up the game looking at your strategy card for more than 30 seconds
  • Tip the dealer when you leave a table, even if you're down

At the Craps Table

  • Don't hand chips directly to the dealer — set them on the table
  • Keep drinks off the table rail
  • Don't slow-roll the dice — a single confident throw
  • Don't say the word 'seven' at the table — it's considered bad luck
  • Celebrate when others win — the shared social experience is the point

General Casino Rules

  • No cameras pointed at the dealer or other players' hands
  • Players club card in before you play — always
  • Cocktail server = $1–2 tip per drink minimum
  • Don't save seats at table games for friends who aren't playing
  • If you're not playing, you're not entitled to a seat at a table

Confirm current hours, prices, access, age rules, and availability with the official venue before you go.
