The Las Vegas casino floor of 2026 looks significantly different from 2010 — cashless gaming systems, tablet-based table games, sports betting integrated throughout properties, and the disappearance of penny coin slots. Here's what has changed and what's still evolving.

Cashless Gaming

MGM Resorts and Caesars properties have implemented digital wallet systems allowing players to load funds, move between machines, and cash out without handling physical cash or paper TITO tickets. The adoption is accelerating — within five years, most major casinos will be largely cashless.

Sports Betting Integration

Sports betting has moved from the dedicated sportsbook to being integrated throughout the property — at table service bars, at pool cabanas, via mobile app anywhere on the property. The separation between casino floor and sportsbook has largely dissolved.

Skill-Based Games

Nevada gaming regulators approved skill-based slot machines in 2015. These hybrid games incorporate video game elements where player skill genuinely affects outcome. The uptake has been slower than expected — most players still prefer pure chance formats.
