Las Vegas's desert golf scene offers some of the most dramatic course settings in American golf — red rock backdrops, elevated desert plateaus, and fairways carved through Joshua tree landscapes. Here's how to navigate the 50+ courses in the area.

Top Courses

  • Shadow Creek (MGM Resorts private) — One of the top-rated courses in the world. Access restricted to MGM Grand VIP guests. $500+ per round.
  • TPC Las Vegas — PGA Tour venue, top public course. $150–200 in winter, $75–100 in summer.
  • Cascata — Spectacular mountain setting, consistently rated one of America's best. $250–350.
  • Bali Hai Golf Club — The only course on the Strip itself. $250 weekend, discounts midweek.
  • Painted Desert Golf Club — Best value in the valley. $30–50, public course.

When to Play

Summer golf requires a 6–8am tee time to beat the heat. By 10am, fairway temperatures exceed 110°F. Winter and spring (October–April) are ideal — comfortable temperatures, no time pressure. Summer rate discounts are significant: some $200 courses drop to $50–70 in July.

Topgolf

Topgolf at MGM Grand is technically not a golf course but the best introduction to the game for non-golfers — 100+ climate-controlled bays, food and drinks, point-based games, no experience required. Excellent group activity.
