New Year's Eve in Las Vegas is the city's singular annual event — 400,000 visitors on the Strip, a 8-minute fireworks show fired simultaneously from every major casino, and a television broadcast that reaches 1.5 billion viewers worldwide. Here's how to experience it properly.

Book Everything Now (Seriously)

For New Year's Eve, 'book in advance' means 6–12 months. Hotels sell out entirely by September. Restaurant reservations require fixed prix fixe minimums ($100–300 per person) booked months ahead. Show tickets for headline acts sell out within hours of release. There is no last-minute option for NYE in Las Vegas.

The Fireworks

The New Year's Eve fireworks show fires simultaneously from MGM Grand, Mandalay Bay, Caesars Palace, the STRAT, Planet Hollywood, and multiple other casinos — creating a 10-minute pyrotechnic event visible from every point on the Strip. The viewing is free from any pedestrian bridge or open area on Las Vegas Blvd.

The Viewing Tickets

Clark County sells official viewing area tickets ($50–150) for standing areas on Las Vegas Blvd itself. These provide the best ground-level view but require arriving by 6–7pm to hold position. The street is pedestrian-only from 6pm to approximately 2am on New Year's Eve.

Confirm current hours, prices, access, age rules, and availability with the official venue before you go.
