Las Vegas Pools in July: How to Actually Enjoy Them When It's 115°F

July is Las Vegas's hottest month — and its most active pool month. Here's how to have a genuinely great pool day when the ambient temperature is dangerous.

July in Las Vegas is pool season's peak — dayclubs fully booked, hotel pools at maximum occupancy, and temperatures that make being outside both essential (for cooling in water) and dangerous (for extended sun exposure). Here's how to navigate the paradox.

The July Pool Rules

  • Arrive before 11am. The pool deck at 9am is pleasant; by noon it's survivable; by 2pm the deck temperature is 150°F.
  • The water is always cooler than the deck — if you're hot, get in the water immediately.
  • Sunscreen SPF 50 every 90 minutes. Waterproof formula. Hat for deck time.
  • Drink 32oz of water for every 2 hours in the sun, regardless of how many cocktails you're also drinking.
  • A cabana or umbrella section is not optional in July — it's a medical necessity for sessions over 2 hours.

Best July Pool Strategy

For a dayclub: arrive at opening (11am), establish your spot, get in the water regularly, take shelter under any shade available, leave by 3pm when the heat is at maximum. Return for the evening 'after dark' session that many dayclubs run from 7–11pm when the temperature drops to the 90s.

Confirm current hours, prices, access, age rules, and availability with the official venue before you go.
