Las Vegas pool culture has a specific behavioral code that isn't posted anywhere but is immediately apparent when you violate it. Here are the rules.

At Hotel Pools

  • Don't hold chairs — placing a towel on a chair and leaving for an hour gets your stuff removed
  • Sunscreen before you arrive, not at the pool chair where you'll spray everyone
  • Keep music to headphones — others didn't choose your playlist
  • Wristbands are checked — don't try to sneak in non-guests at properties that enforce access
  • Pool bars have slow service — order an extra when the server comes

At Dayclubs

  • GA areas are communal — don't claim a table without bottle service
  • Dress code is enforced — flip flops are fine, athletic shorts are often not
  • Tip the bartender 20% minimum at the bar — service in dayclubs is hard work
  • The first hour is the best time to get in the pool — it fills completely by 1pm

In the Water

  • The pool is not a bathroom — the obvious rule that apparently requires stating
  • Glasses in the pool area should be plastic — broken glass ends the day for everyone
  • Wave pool (Mandalay Bay) — respect the lifeguard instructions, every time

Confirm current hours, prices, access, age rules, and availability with the official venue before you go.
